Welcome to Irvine Unified Council PTA!

Irvine Unified Council PTA (IUCPTA) works with PTA units at each school in the Irvine Unified School District (IUSD), district staff and school board trustees as well as community partners to improve the education, health and welfare of all Irvine children. By working closely with 4th District PTA, as well as California State and National PTA, we support each PTA unit by providing information, training, and resources. Our membership is comprised of PTA presidents and leaders from each school in IUSD, representing more than 12,000 PTA members. Council meetings are held on a regular basis to share information, exchange ideas, discuss district-wide issues concerning children and help affect positive change in our schools and our community.

Please support your school’s PTA by becoming a member. Children benefit greatly by parental involvement in the schools and so does our community. PTA offers opportunities to fit any schedule, as simple as helping stuff envelopes at home in the evening or making reminder phone calls. Even if you do not have time to volunteer, please consider joining PTA. Your membership dollars alone help us to have a stronger voice for children and to provide valuable programs. For membership information, please check your school’s website, look for information in your registration packet or contact your unit president by clicking on the list on our menu bar at left. You can make a difference!

If you have questions, would like more information or want to volunteer, please e-mail me at president@irvinecouncilpta.org. Thank you for your interest in Irvine Unified Council PTA!

Sincerely,
Steffanie Early

"Irvine Unified Council PTA was honored as Outstanding Council for 2009-2010 by 4th District PTA."

IRVINE CITY COUNCIL PROCLAIMS SEPTEMBER 2010 AS
PTA MEMBERSHIP MONTH

IRVINE, CA August 11, 2010 –Irvine Unified Council PTA (IUCPTA), representing units at 33 schools in the Irvine Unified School District (IUSD), has launched its annual membership campaign. At the August 10, 2010 Irvine City Council meeting, Irvine Mayor Sukhee Kang and the members of the Irvine City Council showed their support by proclaiming September 2010 “PTA Membership Month” in the City of Irvine.

The proclamation, which was presented to a group of PTA leaders from throughout the community, reads in part: “September is hereby proclaimed PTA Membership Month in the City of Irvine to encourage and invite students, parents, families, educators and citizens to show their commitment to children and youth by joining their local PTA or PTSA.”

Irvine Unified Council PTA is part of the California State PTA and the National PTA, a 110-year-old household name and the nation’s oldest and largest volunteer association working on issues affecting education, youth and families. PTA volunteers work in our schools and communities and also advocate at the state and national level to support adequate funding for public schools and for laws to protect the health and welfare of children. The California State PTA has been instrumental in efforts to support small class size, bring arts and physical education back into our schools, and ban junk food at school.

“The Irvine Unified School District could not be more grateful for the support of the Irvine Unified Council PTA, whose members advocate passionately for education while volunteering hundreds of thousands of hours at our schools each year,” said IUSD Superintendent Dr. Gwen Gross.” The Irvine City Council’s proclamation, establishing September 2010 as ‘PTA Membership Month,’ is a worthy tribute to this wonderful organization, and we encourage everyone in Irvine to learn more about its many initiatives.”

PTA provides members with resources and training to build leadership skills. It also provides programs on a wide range of topics, including student achievement, childhood nutrition, and prevention of violence and bullying, to increase parent awareness of issues affecting their children. Many local PTAs in middle and high school call themselves PTSAs to welcome and encourage student members’ involvement.

PTA membership activities have already begun at IUSD’s 4 year-round schools and will be soon be underway as the rest of IUSD students return to school on September 2nd.

“Everyone in our community who cares about children and our public schools is invited and encouraged to join the PTA,” says IUCPTA President Steffanie Early. “With the devastating budget cuts facing public schools as a result of California’s budget crisis, our schools need community support more than ever.” For membership information, contact your local school or visit www.irvinecouncilpta.org.
